LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — The Kentucky Lottery building got a new pop of color on Thursday morning.
A new mural was unveiled on the building's 11th Street side in west Louisville.
The mural, called the "Jackpot Factory," is a nod to the first phase of the Waterfront Park westward expansion, the Waterfront Park PlayPort. The PlayPort, a free, outdoor experiential learning area for kids of all ages, is expected to open in the spring. The mural features an artful and whimsical nod to all the systems that work to create the fun and exciting lottery games.
"The mural features an artful and whimsical nod to all the intricate systems working together at the Kentucky Lottery," Mary Harville, Kentucky Lottery President and CEO, said. "Best of all it shows what is produced by our dedicated team, our players, our retailers and our stakeholders, and that is the proceeds that fund higher education for Kentucky college students and their families."
Kentucky Lottery proceeds have funded more than $5 billion in scholarships and grants for Kentucky college students since 1999.
The mural was painted by local artist Wilfred Sieg.
