LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A Louisville man already in jail is now facing a murder charge in connection to a shooting in the Parkland neighborhood earlier this month.
Louisville Metro Police said 47-year-old Match Gudger is now charged with murder and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon in connection to the May 1 shooting in the 3200 block of West Kentucky Street.
LMPD said officers responded to a reported shooting around 5:40 p.m. in the Parkland neighborhood. Police found 74-year-old Wade Ramey shot multiple times, and he died at the scene.
Gudger was already incarcerated at Louisville Metro Corrections, facing drug and fleeing from police charges.
Gudger was arrested May 2 around 1:30 a.m. after a traffic stop in the area of 34th Street and Greenwood Avenue. According to his arrest citation, police attempted to stop Gudger for no vehicle registration.
Gudger got out of the car, refused police commands and started running. He was eventually caught near the 3200 block of W. Kentucky Street. While running, police said he tossed a crossbody bag containing suspected narcotics, a scale, several clear baggies for narcotics distribution and marijuana.Â
According the citation, police also found a pair of gloves in the car, which tested positive for Ramey's blood and Gudger's DNA.
Gudger will be arraigned Saturday on the murder charge.Â
