LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville man has been arrested after police say he assaulted a 9-year-old who was in his care.Â
According to an arrest warrant, the incident took place on Aug. 3 in Shepherdsville.
Shepherdsville Police say they were contacted after the boy was taken to the hospital for neck pain and shortness of breath. According to the arrest warrant, the boy had busted blood vessels in both eyes, as well as broken capillaries in his face and shoulders.
The hospital determined that he had been choked.
Police arrested 42-year-old Troy Austin, who was in charge of the 9-year-old's care at the time of his injuries. During a phone conversation with the boy's mother, Austin allegedly admitted to assaulting him.
He was arrested on Wednesday and charged with first-degree criminal abuse and first-degree wanton endangerment. He is currently being held in the Bullitt County Detention Center.
