LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A Louisville man is facing multiple charges after police said he shot his roommate during a confrontation inside their home.

Louisville Metro Police responded around 10 a.m. to the 4600 block of Fegenbush Lane on a report of a shooting, department spokesperson Aaron Ellis said. That's near Norbrook Drive.

When officers arrived, they found a man inside the location who had been shot in the leg. Ellis said the man was alert and conscious when EMS transported him to UofL Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police arrested Scott W. Hodge, 43, in connection with the shooting. Investigators said Hodge told officers he believed someone was breaking into his home and grabbed a handgun before going to investigate. He then realized the person inside was his roommate.

According to the report, the two got into a physical altercation in which Hodge claimed the victim tried to choke him. Hodge told police he feared another attack and fired a single shot, saying he intended to scare the victim.

He is now charged with second-degree assault and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon. The case remains under investigation.
