LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A 41-year-old Louisville man was charged with assault for allegedly shooting a man in the parking garage of a downtown hotel earlier this week.

Gary Ross was arrested Tuesday afternoon for allegedly shooting a man on the second level of the parking garage at the Brown Hotel at 400 S. 6th St. The incident happened just before 2:30 a.m. Monday, according to the arrest citation. Louisville Metro Police officers responding to the scene found the victim with a gunshot wound.

Surveillance video showed Ross arguing with the victim. Ross then unlocked a nearby car, grabbed a gun and fired two shots at the victim, hitting him once in the upper thigh. The victim lost a lot of blood and was unconscious when first responders arrived.

He was taken to UofL Hospital for emergency surgery and is expected to survive, according to police.

Ross left the scene before police arrived, but LMPD 4th Division officers arrested him late Tuesday afternoon. He entered a not guilty plea in arraignment court Wednesday morning. The judge raised his bond from $50,000 to $100,000 at the county attorney's request.

Ross had another court hearing scheduled for May 14.
