Man charged with murder after reporting ‘accidental’ fatal shooting of wife in Harrison County

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — The Harrison County Sheriff's Department arrested a man for murder after he reported an "accidental" shooting of his wife.

It said Harrison County 911 Dispatch received a 911 call just before 10 p.m. from a male reporting an accidental gunshot at a residence on Hillcrest Drive.

Harrison County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the residence and found a woman with a gunshot wound to the chest. She was pronounced dead at the scene. That woman was identified as 40-year-old Sara Lang.

The 911 caller was identified as the victim’s husband, 32-year-old Stephen Ray Lang, and he was later arrested for murder.

Investigators determined that a 9mm semi-automatic handgun was used in the shooting. The department says a 4-year-old girl and a 14-year-old boy, were present at the residence at the time of the incident.

Lang is charged with murder, domestic battery, intimidation, and pointing a firearm.
