LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A 34-year-old man was taken into custody Tuesday after being indicted on a murder charge in connection with a fatal stabbing near Pleasure Ridge Park.

Louisville Metro Police officers were called to the 9500 block of Johnsontown Way on a reported stabbing just after 10 p.m., department spokesperson John Bradley said in a statement. That's near Johnsontown Road, off the Greenbelt Highway.

Once on scene, police found a man who had been stabbed multiple times. Bradley said he was taken to UofL Hospital in critical condition and later died.

Police said Antoine Simmons, 34, was indicted by a Jefferson County grand jury on Sept. 25 for murder.

He was taken into custody Tuesday on an indictment warrant.
