LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Norton West Louisville Hospital opened its doors one year ago and has already served more than 58,000 patients since.
The hospital is the first to be built west of 9th Street in more than 150 years.
It provides a 24/7 emergency department, operating rooms and 20 inpatient beds. It also offers primary and outpatient care, specialty services, a retail pharmacy and imaging, including X-ray, CT and MRI.
Since its opening on Nov. 11, 2024, the hospital has created easier access to care for many people in the neighborhoods surrounding it.
"Of course, this is a milestone," said Corenza Townsend, chief administrative officer at Norton West Hospital. "We made a promise to the community. We fulfilled that promise and will continue to do that after today."
The hospital has filled 53,500 prescriptions and proved 12,000 meals through its food pantry partnership with Dare to Care.
"We've heard countless stories about how this facility is making a difference, whether it's connecting people to primary care, making prescriptions more accessible through the retail pharmacy, supporting preventative screenings or providing nutritious food through the on-site food pantry," Townsend said.
Hospital leaders said 58,500 patients have been served through primary care, preventative screenings, emergency services, surgery and inpatient care. It has also helped 2,132 patients find support — including housing, transportation, employment, literacy, job training and nutrition.
The $90 million, 90,000-square-foot hospital sits at 850 S. 28th St. on the Norton Healthcare Goodwill Opportunity Campus.
