LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Former Louisville Metro Police officer Brett Hankison's sentencing at the federal courthouse downtown lasted hours Monday, with protestors taking to the streets outside.
A small crowd set up outside the Gene Snyder Courthouse on West Broadway, with the expected signs, a bullhorn and chants. But when protesters went into traffic and even tried to jump on vehicles, Louisville Metro Police moved in.

At least four people were arrested for charges ranging from disorderly conduct to obstructing a highway. Among those facing charges are Robert Taylor, 32, Andrea Anderson, 47, Rosario Mottola, 40, and Bianca Austin, 44, who is Breonna Taylor's aunt.
WDRB cameras captured one protester jumping on the hood of a Louisville Water Company truck before being taken away by police in handcuffs.
"We understand this case caused pain and damaged trust between our department and the community. We particularly respect and value the 1st Amendment. However, what we saw today in front of the courthouse in the street was not safe, acceptable or legal. Creating confrontation, kicking vehicles, or otherwise creating an unsafe environment will not be tolerated," LMPD said in a statement.
"For those who want to protest, we support and protect your rights to do so legally. We have the duty to keep everyone safe and take this responsibility seriously. We are monitoring the situation and have resources in place to ensure the safety of everyone," the statement continued.
Hankison was sentenced to 33 months in prison for using excessive force and violating the civil rights of Breonna Taylor in a botched police raid of her home in 2020.
U.S. District Court Judge Rebecca Grady Jennings on Monday did not agree with a sentencing memorandum filed last Wednesday recommending a one-day incarceration, which Hankison would get credit for from the day he was booked, a three-year term of supervision, and a $100 fee.
