LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A woman was arrested Tuesday after investigators said she tried to mail drugs to an inmate at Louisville Metro Corrections.
Kimberly Stayton, 43, is charged with first-degree promoting contraband, second-degree trafficking in a controlled substance and first-degree forgery.
LMDC said the investigation started after a "suspicious" envelope containing suspected drugs was intercepted before it reached an inmate.
According to Stayton's arrest citation, investigators found 21 suboxone strips hidden inside the mail, which police said was intended for 40-year-old Jesse Galloway, an LMDC inmate.
Stayton appeared in court Wednesday morning, where Judge Mary Jude Wolford set a $10,000 bond.
Police also said Galloway is expected to face additional complicity charges.
