LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A man was arrested Wednesday morning after allegedly stabbing and killing a woman at the Oldham County Health Department.

According to a news release from Oldham County Police, officers responded to an assault call just before 7:45 p.m. Tuesday at the Oldham County Health Department, located at 1786 Commerce Parkway.

When officers arrived, they found 33-year-old Katherine Homez Gomez dead with multiple stab wounds.

Police identified the suspect as 32-year-old Oscar Torres Alvarez, the victim's former boyfriend.

Officers coordinated with Indiana State Police to find Alvarez, and he was located in his car near Merrillville, Indiana around 2 a.m. when officers arrested him.

He is being charged with murder and burglary, and his bond is set at $2,000,000.

The investigation is ongoing.
