LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Police are looking for the driver of an "older white Jeep" they believe hit and killed a man near the city's airport Wednesday night.

Officers were called to a report that a pedestrian had been hit on Gilmore Lane at Preston Highway around 11 p.m., LMPD spokesperson Dwight Mitchell said in a statement. That's near the city's Lynnview neighborhood and the Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport.

After speaking to witnesses, police believe a man was hit by "what appeared to be an older silver or gray Jeep" that fled the scene "in an unknown direction," Mitchell said.

According to the Jefferson County Coroner's Office, 34-year-old Justin Keith Cooper died at the scene.

LMPD's Traffic Unit is handling the investigation.
