LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A man who was shot by Louisville Metro Police after pointing a gun at officers appeared in court Wednesday and claimed he was in too much pain.Â
Jaron Bobbitt was shot near Wyandotte Park on Monday afternoon after police said he pointed an "AR-style pistol" at officers. It all stemmed from a domestic violence call in the 1000 block of Beecher Street, near Camden Avenue, around 2:30 p.m., according to LMPD Chief Jacquelyn Gwinn-Villaroel.
According to court records, Bobbitt had a gun and ran from police when they showed up. Officers told him to drop the gun, but he pointed it at an officer. That officer then shot Bobbitt, who was stable when being taken to UofL Hospital.
Police said Bobbitt is a convicted felon and had the gun illegally. He's charged with wanton endangerment of a police officer and being a convicted felon in possession of a gun.
He is currently housed at Louisville Metro Corrections.Â
LMPD plans to release body camera footage from the shooting within 10 business days, per department guidelines.
