LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- What was originally a death investigation is now being investigated as a homicide, after the body of a woman was found in Louisville's Park Hill neighborhood.

According to Aaron Ellis, a spokesman for the Louisville Metro Police Department, officers were called to a home near the intersection of Wilson Avenue and South 17th Street at about 1:30 p.m. on Sunday to check on the welfare of someone inside.

When they arrived, they found the body of a woman of an unknown age who was "obviously deceased," according to Ellis.

LMPD's Homicide Unit initially handled the case as a death investigation, but later determined that foul play was involved.

The Jefferson County Coroner's Office identified the woman as Donaida Rodriguez-Hernandez, 44. Her cause of death is still pending.
