LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Officials are on the lookout for an inmate who escaped from the Hardin County Jail.
The jailer said Tony Stephens, 37, may have stolen the keys from their minimum security substance abuse program, where he was staying, Sunday night.
Stephens was reportedly able to unlock a door and stole an unmarked Hardin County jail car, which employees noticed was missing Monday morning.
It's unclear when employees realized Stephens was missing. He was determined missing during a head count.
Kentucky State Police said Stephens is 5 feet, 9 inches tall, bald and has blue eyes. He was in jail on drug possession charges.
Police believe Stephens could be heading to the Covington area in northern Kentucky.
If you see him, do not approach him, KSP said. Anyone with information is asked to call KSP at 270-766-5078 or dial 911.
