LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A man who was rushed into surgery at a Louisville hospital in critical condition after a shooting Tuesday night has died, according to police.

Officers with the Louisville Metro Police Department were called to the 3300 block of Utah Avenue at 9:22 p.m. on a reported shooting, department spokesperson Sgt. Matt Sanders said in a statement. That's in the city's Taylor Berry neighborhood, near Montana Avenue and South 7th Street, not far from Churchill Downs.

Once on scene, police found a man, believed to be in his 40s, who had been shot multiple times. 

Sanders said officers rendered aid, applying a chest seal and tourniquet. The man was taken to University Hospital in critical condition and into surgery. Sanders said in an update just before 11 p.m. Tuesday that the man had died.

LMPD's Homicide Unit is investigating, but there are no known suspects and have been no arrests.
