LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville woman is charged with being drunk and hitting a marked police car outside of the Kentucky Exposition Center Sunday night.

Bernita Bennett, 63, pleaded not guilty in court Tuesday to five charges  including operating a motor vehicle under the influence, wanton endangerment  of a police officer, possession of an open alcohol container and criminal mischief.

Court records say an officer working at Gate 2 outside the Expo Center directing traffic for Bourbon and Beyond saw Bennett driving in the center turn lane. She collided with the front of a marked LMPD cruiser, which "shielded" a police sergeant.

The citation said Bennett didn't respond to commands to put her vehicle in park or turn off the engine. She was pulled from the vehicle, collapsed on the ground and complained of breathing issues. EMS was called, but she refused to be taken to the hospital.

The officer said in the arrest report that Bennett smelled like alcohol. "Several unopened miniature bottles of alcohol were located inside the vehicle along with a Styrofoam cup that had the odor of alcoholic beverages in it."

The report said Bennett admitted to drinking "a couple of shots of gin and two beers."

The judge set a $1,500 full cash bond for Bennett, who is scheduled back in court on Sept. 24.
