LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A woman who had been stabbed was found walking on the Watterson Expressway on Thursday morning. 

In a news release, Louisville Metro Police said officers were called to an area near Taylor Boulevard about 12:30 a.m.

When officers arrived they found the woman suffering from a stab would. An ambulance took her to UofL Health Hospital in downtown Louisville. 

She was conscious and alert and is expected to survive, according to LMPD. 

Police said they have a known suspect that had not been taking into custody yet.

The Department's Domestic Violence Unit is handling the investigation.
