LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A local school is working to build a culture of belonging among its students.

On Friday, students at the Academy @ Shawnee joined more than 150 schools across Kentucky, and more than 5,000 schools around the country, to celebrate National No One Eats Alone Day. It's a program by Sandy Hook Promise, designed to end social isolation and help students connect with others.

Hall of Famer and former Cincinnati Bengal Antony Munoz spoke to the students about the importance of belonging and inclusion.

"One of the things they take away is that they can initiate conversation, include those that might not be included with different groups," Munoz said. "If you see someone sitting alone, go and ask them questions, initiate questions (and) include them into your group."

Munoz said he hopes to use his platform to have an impact on young people.
