LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A group of teenagers or young adults driving around the Okolona area in a gray Nissan Pathfinder has turned what started as childish pranks into thousands of dollars in property damage.

Frustrated neighbors said it’s all caught on video.

Residents said the trouble began with eggs. Then came rocks — and even kicked-in doors.

“That is the kind of noise that will make you call the cops,” said Amanda Burdett, whose home was one of several hit.

Just after 8:20 p.m. Monday, Feb. 9, Burdett and her husband heard what they thought was the TV falling off the wall. It wasn’t.

Someone kicked in the front door window, shattered glass pieces still turning up days later.

“It took us a good 10 minutes to realize it was our front door,” Burdett said. “After checking our video surveillance, we saw a juvenile run up our driveway, toss an egg — and then run back to a gray Nissan Pathfinder.”

Eggshells and dried yolk still cling to the trim around her door. But Burdett said the damage goes far beyond her house.

“It started with throwing eggs, and then escalated pretty quickly to egging people walking down the street, people at the stores just standing outside,” she said. “Which then quickly escalated even higher to breaking bay windows out with rocks. I guess they ran out of eggs, grabbed some rocks and proceeded to break the windows.”

Burdett believes several of the same suspects are responsible for multiple incidents — four homes on her street alone have been hit.

“It’s occupied by three to four kids,” she said. “There’s been a female identified in a few random incidents. So now we have all three individuals — we just need someone to identify them.”

Burdett, who works in accounting, has taken on the role of neighborhood detective. She’s collected videos from other victims and shared them online, hoping someone will recognize the vandals.

“I’m thinking the driver is anywhere from 17 to 20, just by facial features,” she said. “I’d like to see them learn a lesson. I’d like to let them know that the community will not stand for this.”

Neighbors estimate the total damage at more than $10,000 so far — costs that homeowners are being forced to cover themselves.

“So we do know what this is in the area,” Burdett said. “This car is being seen very frequently.”

To the window-kicking, egg-throwing vandals, Burdett has a message: the community is watching.
