LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- It's a calling that can make a huge difference in a child's life.

On Wednesday, the Archdiocese of Louisville held a luncheon to honor more than 200 Catholic school teachers for what they do in the classroom every day.

They were recognized for working between five to 50 years as teachers.

It's a passion for Karen Widener, who's taught communications for 15 years and says there's one reason she loves it so much.

"It's the children. It's honestly therapy to me. I love being with the kids everyday. They give as much to me as I give to them and watching that light bulb go off is just amazing," Widener said.

The teachers honored have a total of more than 3,600 hours of teaching experience between them.
