LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Ballard High School senior got a surprise scholarship to college from his employer.

Jaedyn Woodard works part-time at the KFC on West Broadway. When he got into work Thursday afternoon, there was a crowd and a $5,000 check waiting for him from the KFC Foundation.

Woodard, who also plays football at Ballard, said he plans to study Business Administration this fall at Kentucky State University.Ā

"I'm excited," he said. "Really surprised, I can't believe I won it, for real. I just work hard on it, I work every day, I don't know there's a lot going through my head right now. I don't know what to say."

He said the scholarship will be a huge help, and came as a complete surprise. He said he wants to make sure he thanked his family, friends and his second family at KFC.
