LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The first round of transportation stipends from JCPS are expected to be mailed out this week.
JCPS said everything is on track to get payments to families who lost bus service this year. Stipends for August and September are being processed, with the first group of checks being mailed on Tuesday.
The school district said everyone should receive their stipends by the end of the month. The stipends go to families who lost bus service and now have to drive their children to school.
JCPS officials previously said about 17,000 students are eligible for the stipends. Families will be eligible for $5 a day, or $10 a day, if their student qualifies for free or reduced lunch.
The next round of payments will come in December, covering transportation from October and November.
