LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The St. James Art Show, fall festivals and a football top-25 matchup means a big weekend in Louisville.
The Louisville Cardinals take on Notre Dame at L&N Stadium Saturday night for arguably one of the biggest games in Louisville in more than five years.
With Louisville's own Jeff Brohm leading the team, fans are fired up. Louisville native Brian Montgomery flew in from Dallas just for the game.
"Born and raised here. Went to school here. Moved away, now I come back for games," Montgomery said.
Montgomery was the rare Cards fan WDRB News met downtown. The plurality of fans were in town to watch Notre Dame.
"We're gonna be at O'Shea's tonight for cocktails," Notre Dame fan Glenn Roach said.
April Thomas brought her family to cheer No. 83 on the Irish, which is her son.
"Jaden Thomas is a wide receiver for Notre Dame, and we're excited to be here," Thomas said.
While Notre Dame shirts dominate the sidewalks, bourbon is still a driving force for visitors.
Kevin Brogan came in to check out the Bourbon Trail for his bachelor party.
"Excited to come to Louisville. I've never been to Kentucky before, so excited to have a lot of bourbon," Brogan said.
Brogan is a University of Texas fan, and not to be outdone, we found people from Houston who back UT's archrival, Texas A&M.
Louisville is a special city, known not just for Slugger bats, bourbon and horse racing, but a place for people to come together.
Some Notre Dame fans we met are in town for a wedding, which will happen during the game.
"And I already told my nephew, you better have TVs at the reception because I'm gonna be wearing my jersey," Roach said.
Kickoff between Louisville and Notre Dame is on Saturday at 7:30 p.m., and will be broadcasted on ABC/WHAS.
