LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A firefighter was taken to the hospital after battling a fire at a Louisville fast-food restaurant Monday.

MetroSafe said the call came in about 4:45 p.m. Monday of a fire at the McDonald's at 3340 Bardstown Road, near the Budgetel Inn.

Fern Creek Fire spokesperson Dewayne Hutchens said the fire started on the outside of the building, quickly spreading to the attic before fire crews arrived. Hutchens said there is "significant damage to the structure."

Hutchens said one firefighter was taken to the hospital out of caution. There were no other injuries to any employees or patrons. Hutchens said fire investigators are investigating the cause of the fire.
