LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Firefighters battled a large structure fire at a Crestwood car dealership Sunday morning.

North Oldham Fire Chief James Sohan said police were originally notified about a burglar alarm at the Glenn Dodge Chrysler Dealership and the owner responded to find smoke in the building. The owner called the fire department and crews were on scene by 9:57 a.m.

When firefighters arrived, the fire already broke through the roof on the backside of the building. There was heavy smoke and large flames coming from the roof.

Sohan said multiple different departments arrived on scene to help and it took 60 firefighters to bring it under control. The Louisville Water Company was also called to boost pressure for firefighters in the area.

"Because of the volume of the fire inside they went to a defensive operation initially with ladders, you can see the water stream coming out of the ladders to knock the fire down so we could send crews to the interior and put the rest of the fire out," Sohan said.

The building was closed so no one was inside.

Arson will be investigating the cause of the fire.

Officials said West Highway 146 is closed due to the fire.
