LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- Members of an Army unit based in Fort Knox, Ky. are taking part in training after arriving in Afghanistan.
More than 150 soldiers from the 3rd Sustainment Command (Expeditionary) will spend nine months in Afghanistan. This is the first time it's been deployed there. Previously the unit has been sent to Iraq and to Haiti.
It provides everything from fuel to munitions to water, rations, and clothing to the troops.
Since arriving in Afghanistan, soldiers have been training at Kandahar Air Field. That training has included knowing how to react if a Mine Resistant Ambush Protected vehicle rolls over. It has also received training on IEDs and marksmanship.
