LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Frankfort Avenue Trolley Hop will return this year in Louisville.
According to a news release, the Trolley Hop began in 2004 as a signature monthly community event celebrating local restaurants, shops and galleries along Frankfort Avenue. But it was last run in 2019 due to budget cuts.
The series will include three special Trolley Hops on Fridays from 4-9 p.m. this year on July 25 and Oct. 24, and next year on May 29, 2026.
"Please mark your calendars and help make this comeback the biggest The Avenue has ever seen," Louisville Metro councilman Andrew Owen said in a news release. "After much discussion and planning, I’m excited to partner with FABA to bring this unique experience back to Frankfort Avenue and now to Brownsboro Road. I encourage residents near and far to come out and experience the best in local dining, shopping, and neighborhood pride."
People are encouraged to take advantage of free parking at the designated "Park & Ride" location at Mellwood Art Center. Riders can board one of the two complimentary trolleys operating every 15-20 minutes.
The trolley route will make continuous loops from the Mellwood Art Center along Brownsboro Road to Hillcrest Avenue. Then, it will continue along Frankfort Avenue with eight stops:
- Mellwood Art Center, 1860 Mellwood Avenue
- Bingham Park, Brownsboro Road & Haldeman Avenue
- Chicken Steps, Brownsboro Road & N. Clifton Avenue
- Frankfort Avenue & South Galt
- Crescent Hill Library, Frankfort Avenue & S. Birchwood Avenue
- Irish Rover, 2319 Frankfort Avenue
- Core Fluency/Retta’s Ice Cream, 2015 Frankfort Avenue
- Silver Dollar, 1761 Frankfort Avenue
According to a news release, local restaurants and businesses along the route will offer special promotions and discounts during the event. For more details, click here.
