From Kentucky State Police: TheĀ Richmond Police Department has announced the funeral procession route for RPD Officer Daniel Ellis on Wednesday. The full route runs from Richmond to Dunnville, a distance of about 100 miles. People are encouraged to stand along the route; crowds are expected especially in Richmond as the procession of hundreds of police and first responders' vehicles leaves EKU Wednesday.

Turn Left to merge onto I-75 South at Exit 90;
Take Exit 62 and turn Right onto Ky.Ā 461;
Turn Right onto Ky.Ā 80 West toward Somerset;

Eastern Kentucky University has special arrangements on campus for Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday afternoon, including cancellation of certain classes. Read EKU's memo to students and staff below:
Dear University Community:
As announced earlier, all EKU classes at all campuses will be canceled beginning at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday and will resume at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. In addition, Model Laboratory School will close at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday and remain closed on Wednesday. The University will remain open normal hours Tuesday and Wednesday, and staff are to report as usual.
Family members and friends, law enforcement officers from across Kentucky and beyond, local and state leaders and many others will arrive on our campus over the next two days to pay their final respects to Richmond Police Officer Daniel Ellis.Ā As you know, Officer Ellis paid the ultimate cost last week in an effort to keep our community safe.
As our campus and community continue to mourn this tragic loss, and as we prepare to host visitation and funeral services for Officer Ellis at Alumni Coliseum and welcome thousands of visitors to our campus, we ask for your patience and understanding.Ā Most of all, we ask that you continue to keep the Ellis family and his friends and fellow officers in your thoughts and prayers.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 10, from 2 to 8 p.m., and funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 11, at 11 a.m. In order to accommodate visitors, the Alumni Coliseum and Whitlock parking lots will be closed beginning at 2 a.m. Tuesday and remain closed until the procession has cleared the area sometime late Wednesday afternoon. In addition, the Mattox Hall lot will be closed on Wednesday. Alternative parking for employees and students will be available at the Center for the Arts, Perkins and Ashland lots. Shuttle service will be provided from these lots to the Whitlock Building from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on both Tuesday and Wednesday.
