LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Drivers traveling through downtown Madison, Indiana will soon need to slow down.
The Indiana Department of Transportation plans to lower the speed limit on U.S. 421 from 35 mph to 30 mph between Jefferson Street and Main Street. The change is expected to take effect on or after Tuesday, April 14.
Transportation officials said the adjustment is aimed at improving safety and creating more consistent traffic flow along the corridor.
To help alert drivers, crews will install advance warning signs and flashing beacons in the area.
INDOT is reminding motorists to stay alert, reduce speeds and avoid distractions, especially as new traffic patterns are introduced.
Officials note that the timing of the change could shift depending on weather conditions.
