LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Galt House Hotel books hundreds of guests for Thunder Over Louisville each year, but the daylong event was canceled this year because of historic flooding across the area.
That means people who booked packages with the hotel are now requesting refunds. The hotel has already begun processing those requests, Lance George, Galt House Hotel Chief Marketing officer, said Tuesday.Ā
"We are working diligently to ensure that all refund requests are completed promptly and efficiently," George said in a statement, which went on to thank the community for its continued support of the Kentucky Derby Festival.Ā
George said the Galt House is extending its special Storm Relief Rate, which offers reduced prices for rooms.
"We hope this small gesture can help ease the burden on our neighbors during this difficult time," said George.Ā
The iconic hotel in downtown Louisville on the banks of the Ohio River has been Ground Zero for the Thunder Over Louisville production for decades, housing the command center where the button is pushed to launch the 30-minute fireworks display.Ā
