LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A new center is open in Hardin County to help businesses and residents affected by severe storms April 2.
At the Business Recovery Center in Hardin County, homeowners can apply for up to $500,000 to replace or repair their house. Businesses and nonprofits can apply for disaster loans and can borrow up to $2 million for repairs and damage.
Last month, the Federal Emergency Management Agency announced President Donald Trump had approved the state's major disaster declaration for 13 counties, making the federal funding available to counties impacted by the flooding, severe weather, tornadoes, landslides and mudslides that started April 2. Those counties include: Anderson, Butler, Carroll, Christian, Clark, Franklin, Hardin, Hopkins, Jessamine, McCracken, Mercer, Owen and Woodford counties.
At the center in Hardin County, Small Business Administration employees can explain the application process and help people complete their application.
"SBA's Business Recovery Centers have consistently proven their value to business owners following a disaster," Chris Stallings, associate administrator of the Office of Disaster Recovery and Resilience at the SBA, said in a news release Monday. "Business owners can visit these centers to meet face-to-face with specialists who will guide them through the disaster loan application process and connect them with resources to support their recovery."
Walk-ins are accepted, but to schedule an appointment in advance, click here. The center will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
