E. Luther Road fuel tank fire - 10.2.25

FLOYDS KNOBS, Ind. (WDRB) — One person was injured in a fuel tank fire in southern Indiana.

According to Highlander Fire, a call came in around 5 p.m. Thursday for a fire explosion in the 4600 block of E. Luther Road, off Highway 150 in Floyds Knobs.

WDRB's Samantha Condra went to the scene and described an elevated fuel tank on fire. Highlander Fire and Palmyra Fire were on scene, and the fire was out as of 6:10 p.m.

According to Highlander Fire Assistant Chief Brandon Alexander, a person was injured while refueling a lawn mower from the elevated tank and something ignited during the process. Another person suffered a medical emergency at the same time, unrelated to the fire, Alexander said. Both of them have been taken to the hospital.

The assistant chief also said fire crews had to use a lot of foam to smother the fire, and were able to get the fire under control quickly.
