HODGENVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Four confirmed tornadoes leveled homes and ripped apart buildings in Kentucky yesterday, including an EF-2 tornado in Elizabethtown and another EF-2 tornado in eastern Grayson County.

And Hodgenville was hit with two tornadoes -- an EF-1 that touched down in Larue County, about two miles west of Hodgenville and an EF-2 that hit near downtown Hodgenville.

Now residents are cleaning up the aftermath.

[SLIDESHOW: FEBRUARY 29 SEVERE WEATHER]

Several homes had serious damage, including one that most of its roof ripped off. About 12 homes were damaged in a neighborhood not far from Larue County High school -- and we're told six of those were destroyed.

Ironically, one home that was heavily damaged sat next to another home that was virtually untouched.

The National Guard is stationed at both entrances to the damaged neighborhood to deter potential looters. Only people who live in the neighborhood or have a valid reason for being there will be allowed in.

Even our news crew had to stop at the checkpoint and sign in, as law enforcement attempts to keep track of everyone going in and out.

We're told at least one suspicious man was spotted lurking around one of the homes not long after the storms ended Wednesday.

Lila Carlen with Buffalo Fire & Rescue says the Guardsmen are there as a precaution "to just keep it safe and keep the possibility of looters and stuff out. I know we had one yesterday, the gentleman claimed to live in a home, and everyone was like, 'no, we know who lives there.' So they got him out of there quickly before anything was stolen."

Carlen says people wanting in and out of the neighborhood will "have to have an ID -- a drivers license or something with your address on it in order to come in. If you're coming in to help someone, they that resident has to let us know who is coming in."

The Red Cross as well as other agencies are in town to help people who have lost their homes.

"We've got emergency management on scene," Carlen said. And the Red Cross will be here. We've got Paul Davis Restoration -- they're out here tarping and putting plywood up. Thee will also be people coming to help everyone move their stuff out."

Carlen says there will be other individuals and agencies coming in to help as well.
