LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Hoosiers will have a chance to see a piece of Indiana history until July 5.Ā

Back in 1816, the Indiana constitution was written at what is now the Historic Corydon Capitol site.

The constitution has returned to Corydon from its archive in Indianapolis with the original copy on display until July 5.

One museum worker said having Indiana's constitution there recognizes the importance of the city's history.

"Governor Jennings besides being the first governor was the head of the constitutional convention, which would have started on this day 210 years ago and that's actually his writing desk, so some work on this document would have happened on that very desk," said Susannah Koerber.

Corydon is also celebrating America's 250th birthday with more events this summer.
