LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — As deer season approaches, The Indiana Department of Natural Resources is asking hunters to donate the meat to help local families.
The Indiana DNR is hosting the Hunt for Hunger initiative to help feed hungry Hoosiers. The DNR said one deer can provide 200 meals for Indiana families.
Indiana deer hunters just have to drop off the field-dressed deer at a participating processor, which will be processed for free, and made into venison burgers for families.

Launched in 2008 as the Sportsmen's Benevolence Fund, the program now known as Hunt for Hunger has collected thousands of deer and provided hundreds of meals to Hoosiers.
