LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The state of Indiana is investigating at least three possible winter weather-related deaths.

All three deaths were reported in Indianapolis, according to FOX59 News.

The Marion County Coroner's Office said one person was found outside in the snow with a shovel.

Two others were found indoors, one without heat and the other suffering from symptoms of hypothermia.

The victims were identified as William Johns Jr., 61; Ellen Siakotos, 69; and Violet Wells, 59.

It's unclear at this time whether there are any other weather-related deaths reported in the state.

As the cold weather continues, emergency room doctors are urging people to get help immediately if they've been outside for too long, or if they're staying in a home that isn't warm enough.

"If you start feeling clumsy with your fingers, or you start feeling that tingling, you know, get inside and get warm," Dr. Tyler Stepsis, with Eskenazi Health, said. "Because those are kind of the first indications that you're going to get some frostbite, particularly in your fingers or your toes."

Health officials provided the following precautions for stretches of extreme cold: Ensure access to a safe and reliable heat source; Check on elderly neighbors, family members and those living alone; Seek warming centers or emergency assistance when heat isn't available.
