LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Scientists at Indiana University will help the U.S. Army and its plans to prevent cyberattacks. 

It's all part of a $23 million initiative by the Army Research Laboratory meant to detect cyberattacks and predict their potential impact.

It will also create a system to respond to online attacks in real time.  One goal is to allow networked systems to respond to such attacks without human involvement.

IU will work with four other schools -- Penn State University, Carnegie Mellon University, the University of California Davis and the University of California Riverside.  IU's share of the funding amounts to $2.6 million.  The project will involve three IU faculty and several graduate students.
