Jackpots for Powerball, MegaMillions drawings approaching $400 million

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- If you want to try your luck at winning hundreds of millions of dollars, you'll have a crack at two huge jackpots this weekend.

The Powerball jackpot for Saturday's drawing is up to $356 million, while Friday's Mega Millions has soared to $393 million. It's the first time in history that both of the lottery jackpots have been above $300 million at the same time.

Officials with the Kentucky Lottery officials say a winner in Kentucky could be great for the state economically.

"Winners create sales overall for us for the state, but we definitely see a bump when we see one of those big jackpot winners here," said Kentucky Lottery Vice President of Communications Chip Polston.

Your odds of winning the Powerball jackpot are 1 in 292 million, while the odds of winning the Mega Millions jackpot are slightly better at 1 in 258 million.
