LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB and AP) -- The JCPS school board voted Monday night to set new graduation dates for the 2013-2014 school year.
The vote came just hours after possible state relief melted away in the Kentucky General Assembly. The graduation dates also determine the last day of school.
The last day of school for Jefferson County Public Schools will be June 12, provided there are no new snow days. Officials are optimistic. However, they have drawn up a second schedule in case of any more missed school days.
"I am grateful we had only 11 days out," said superintendent Donna Hargens. "Other districts had 20 and 30 days and will go to the end of June."
Oldham County schools set June 7 as the graduation date for its three high schools.
JCPS graduation dates, times and locations, provided June 12 is the last school day as hoped.

State lawmakers failed to agree Monday on a bill that would relax the state's school attendance laws because of the unusual number of snowstorms this winter.
State law requires school districts to have at least 170 days and 1,062 hours of classroom instruction each school year. But some school districts have missed more than 30 days this year because of snowstorms, pushing the school year for some districts toward the end of June.
House and Senate negotiators could not agree on when the school year should end. They had reached a tentative agreement in talks on Friday, but it fell apart Monday.
House Speaker Greg Stumbo, D-Prestonsburg, said the bill is so important he would be willing to appoint new negotiators to try again. Sen. Mike Wilson, R-Bowling Green, said new talks were possible Tuesday morning, but not likely. Lawmakers have eight legislative days left to reach a compromise. Local school boards want to make their end-of-the-year calendars final as soon as possible so parents, teachers, staff and graduating students can make plans.
