Jeff Brohm gets 4-year contract extension, $200,000 raise from WKU

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) – Western Kentucky has extended head football coach Jeff Brohm’s contract for four years, running through the 2019 season, according to the school.

After two successful seasons as head coach – including the school’s first-ever AP Top 25 national ranking and first ever FBS conference championship – WKU has further solidified Brohm's position.

Director of Athletics Todd Stewart announced the contract extension Wednesday, which still requires approval form the Western Kentucky University board of regents.

As part of the agreement, Brohm’s base salary will increase from $600,000 to $800,000 through private funds, and university officials say that makes him one of Conference USA’s highest paid coaches.

Brohm has led WKU to two successful seasons as a head coach with a 20-7 record and a 74.1 percent win percentage – both are school records.

“Jeff Brohm’s leadership has resulted in our football program reaching historic heights, and this is an exciting and unprecedented time for everyone associated with WKU football,” Stewart said. “Despite receiving overtures from many regarding other coaching opportunities, Jeff remained loyal to WKU and he and his family are valued residents of our community. It was imperative we reward that loyalty. His dedication to our players and their personal development is also noteworthy. I am thrilled that Jeff will continue to lead our program moving forward.”
