LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville's health department said Jefferson County has seen a significant increase in suicide deaths in the last three years.
The Louisville Metro Department of Public Health and Wellness said Friday there were 183 reported suicide deaths in 2022, a 23% increase from the 148 suicide deaths in 2019.
The city's health department recently teamed up with the University of Louisville to create the Jefferson County Suicide Fatality Review Board in an effort to gain a deeper understanding of the risk factors affecting Jefferson County residents and work with organizations on suicide prevention.
As always, 988 is the National Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. It's open 24/7 for calls and texts.
