LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The city of Jeffersontown just made it easier to find lost pets.
Mayor Carol Pike said she bought microchip scanners and distributed them to businesses throughout the city.
Everyone at Public Works and the police department will get the scanners too. The hope is that they can be used to reunite lost pets with their owners.
"If you're a pet owner and you've lost your pet, you're excited to think that if it ever happens to you, the whole community is united in getting your pet back to you," said Pike.
If you find a lost pet, you can go to Jeffersontown's website to find somewhere with a scanner.
