LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Just in time for Christmas -- the Kentucky Derby Festival has released the 2024 Pegasus Pin as part of the countdown to the 150th Kentucky Derby.
The Festival worked with Churchill Downs to create the special pin design, which features the Festival’s Pegasus symbol and official teal color, along with the number "150th" in red.
"The Kentucky Derby Festival is a monthlong celebration and nearly 70-year-old tradition that started because of the Kentucky Derby," KDF President and CEO Matt Gibson said in a news release. "We are honored to partner with Churchill Downs in creating a Pegasus Pin that marks this milestone and will also be a one-of-a-kind collector’s piece for both our community and our guests."
The 2024 Pin also complements the design of the 1974 Pegasus Pin that honored the 100th Kentucky Derby.
2024 marks the 52nd edition of the Pegasus Pin. Online pre-orders will be accepted beginning Dec. 6 at PegasusPins.com.
The pins will be available at retail locations beginning in March 2024.
The Kentucky Derby Festival is also joining the Kentucky Derby Museum at its "Race to 150," event, on Dec. 6 to countdown to Derby 150. The first 150 guests to the museum will receive a commemorative metal Festival Pin. For the first time, collector Pins from past years will also be available for purchase at the Derby Museum Gift Shop.
