LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Kentucky Derby legend is making his triumphant return to Churchill Downs.
Mine That Bird won the Kentucky Derby 135 in 2009. He will temporary residence at the Kentucky Derby Museum stable through April 19.
He was a longshot and won at 50 to 1 odds, and was also one of only nine geldings to win the race.
Mine That Bird's co-owner, Mark Allen, said he's a horse like no other.
"He's just a character," Allen said. "He's just very intelligent and smooth to ride too."
Mine That Bird's story will be part of the Long Shots exhibit at the museum, which opens March 27. Officials said the horse will create a great educational conversation for field trips at the museum.
