LOUSIVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A woman was safely rescued Tuesday evening after getting lost while hiking in the Red River Gorge.
She called 911 around 5:30 p.m., reporting that she had been on the trail for nearly five hours and had become disoriented.
Using a locator link, the Wolfe County Search and Rescue Team pinpointed her location on a cliff line above the Sheltowee Trace and Gladie Creek.
Rescuers reached her by riding UTVs along Klaber Ridge and then hiking about a mile to her position.
She was found uninjured and relieved to see the crew as temperatures dropped and night fell.
Officials said this is the second call in the past year in nearly the same area.
The rescue team is seeking public input on why hikers may get lost along this section of trail and how safety can be improved.
