Search warrant leads to three arrests after Louisville police find major animal cruelty case

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Three men were taken into custody Tuesday after a search warrant revealed a major animal abuse case.

According to LMPD spokesman Matthew Sanders, officers executed the warrant at a home in the 2500 block of Rowan Street in Louisville's Portland neighborhood. The warrant was not connected to animal abuse, but upon arriving at the home, officers found 19 dogs living in "extremely poor conditions."

The dogs showed signs of severe flea infestations, visible tumors, and signs of malnourishment. Sanders said animal care specialists immediately responded to the scene to provide assistance.

Police arrested Tymane Harris, 49, Lamont Harris, 59, and Diajion Barnett, 32. Tymane Harris is charged with 19 counts of animal cruelty, in addition to facing drug trafficking and gun charges.

Lamont Harris is charged with possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, and Diajion Barnett is charged with tampering with physical evidence.

The three men are expected in court Wednesday morning.
