LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — The town of Lanesville will host a two-day benefit this weekend to raise money for flooding relief.
Flash flooding rippled through the southern Indiana town June 9, leaving behind thousands of dollars in damage to homes and school athletic fields.
"Insurance didn't cover it for most people," Lanesville Council President James Powers said. "And we had a lot of people, renders, who were affected, who lost almost everything, who lost vehicles, lost pretty much everything. So again, it's just been kinda the community coming together to help those people out."
The benefit will be held Friday and Saturday at the Lanesville Heritage Grounds, hosted by Haunted Heritage. There will be live music, an auction, raffles and food. There are also campsites available to rent.
Proceeds raised during the two-day event will go to residents of Lanesville who are recovering from the flooding.
Earlier this month, some residents said they're still waiting for financial help as they look at hundreds of thousands of dollars in out-of-pocket repair costs.
