LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Gas and Electric and Kentucky Utilities are relaunching the live camera for the peregrine falcon nesting season.

The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife have nesting boxes at LG&E/KU generating stations throughout the state. That includes the one at the Mill Creek generating station.

Viewers can watch live for some of the resident falcons, like Diana, the resident female peregrine falcon at Mill Creek, and her longtime mate Perry the Peregrine. The hope is that some falcon chicks will also be seen later this spring.

Viewers can expect to see their first glimpse of eggs starting next month, with chicks hatching in mid-April or early May.

LG&E/KU and state wildlife officials have partnered for more than 20 years to protect and preserve Kentucky's peregrine falcon population. Preservation efforts include the addition of the nesting boxes, which provide a safe environment for nesting.

To date, the efforts have helped nearly 200 peregrine falcon chicks fledge, or leave the nest, from the boxes at the generating stations. Last year, LG&E said, eight peregrine falcons were successfully hatched and fledged from the Mill Creek, Ghent, and Trimble County generating stations.
