LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) ā The city of Louisville and neighborhoods kick off the holiday season with lighting the town, and that was the scene Saturday night in St. Matthews.
Light Up St. Matthews was held at Brown Park, next to Baptist Hospital off Kresge Way.
It was hosted by the St. Matthews Chamber of Commerce and has been a tradition for decades.
There was lots of entertainment, vendors, crafts, train rides and a DJ.
Some said they make it an annual event while for others, it was their first time.
"I have seen it in years past all lit up," Geralyn Merilatt, attending Light Up St. Matthews, said. "I have never been to the opening, so now having a grandson, I wanted to come to the opening."
Children could also write letters to Santa who even appeared toward the end of the night.
